The Montemar Palace hotel is a 4-star hotel, designed to cater for the high standards of the new millennium with its modern design, equipment and spacious leisure areas. It is located in a rural area (60km/ 50 minutes away from the airport by car), overlooking the crystal clear Atlantic ocean and the beautiful ‘Laurissilva’ forest on the north coast of the island of Madeira. The hotel is set in an area of absolute silence, with lovely surroundings and magnificent views in a sub-tropical climate with an average temperature of 19ºC.

What was the highlight of Monte Mar Palace Hotel
Ocean view
Lovely hotel with ocean view. Location is convenient to explore the North (east and west) of the island. Room was very big and cosy, classical style. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Very quick and efficient laundry service. Parking available in the garage and/or in close proximity.
The only minus I can think of is the hairdryer, pretty slow I really recommend this place.

The perfect location. The location and the view are phenomenal! Perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse themselves in the peace of nature. The indoor and outdoor pools are in excellent condition and are very pleasant. Breakfast and dinner had plenty of variety.
The hotel needs an upgrade. It's not the first time I've stayed in this hotel and I always complain about the state of the beds. Because they're already old, they're uncomfortable; you can feel the springs. The pillows are also a bit worn. For the price per night, I was expecting better conditions. When we got to the room we noticed that the bedside tables hadn't been cleaned and had dust on them, which isn't pleasant for someone with allergies.

Gorgeous rooms, slightly dated rooms that are being updated
Gorgeous view from property in quiet, north island location. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food (aside from breakfast buffet) was good and free parking was plentiful
Our initial room was very dated. There were smoke stains on the wall and the bathroom door was cracking, to the point I was worried my mother would slip into it and get large splinters. The hotel generously moved us to one of the renovated rooms which was much better! The whole hotel should be renovated in Oct 2024. When checking in, I would request a renovated room.
